Historic teal wooden facade in Bhaati Gate, Lahore, overlooking a wet street with a motion-blurred motorcycle, a shopkeeper in shadow, and a woman in blue hesitantly entering the frame.

Light, colour and life

On this slippery winter morning inside Bhaati Gate, the light did the composing, carving textures from shadows and letting the faded teals and pale yellows settle naturally into the frame. I was lucky with the people who brought it to life: the man stepping out on the left, the girl pausing on the wet street to the right, the shopkeeper in the centre, and the blur of the bike in motion. The scene already carried its own story; all I had to do was press the shutter.
